"To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand," is the first line in Phi Mu's creed. We are honored to have Children's Miracle Network Hospitals as our National Philanthropy. Since 1986, Phi Mu has raised over 8.5 million dollars for CMNH. Locally, the Kappa Omega Chapter lends help to others through our fundraisers, such as: Hoop-a-Paluza, "Milk and Cookies", "Cheers for Children","Movies for Miracles", balloon sales, and many other events. Phi Mu sisters also visit our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital, USA Children's and Women's Hospital. We bring the children different types of "goodies" including: books, toys, Valentine cards, Easter baskets, and Halloween games.
We also have been hosting Hoop-a-Paluza on campus since 2009! Hoop-a-Paluza is a three-on-three basketball tournament in which campus organizations compete while raising money for CMNH! It is always a ton of fun, and very successful!!
A message from Philanthropy chair, Morgan Parton:
This past year has been very exciting and rewarding for Kappa Omega's chapter in everything we have accomplished! This past spring, we held our very first bonnaMU themed "Milk and Cookies" events. It was such a great time seeing everyone dress up with all of the sisters and come out to help support raising money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals! We are fortunate enough to have a CMNH hospital in Mobile, so all of our proceeds go directly to University of South Alabama's very own Children's and Women's Hospital. This past year, we raised over $6,000 for CMNH and to see it impact our very own hospital is very fulfilling! We also visit the hospital to tour the Oncology, NICU, and tree house unit in the spring semester. During the holidays, we visit the kids to give them goodies and treats! They love it! For all of you going through recruitment, we cannot wait to show you what Phi Mu is all about and how amazing our philanthropy is! See you soon!
